Why video downloads fail
Last updated: September 8, 2026
A failed download is often caused by the link or the source platform rather than your device. Start with the checks below; they solve most problems without installing software or sharing account credentials.
The link is not a specific public post
Profile pages, playlists, feeds, search results, and home pages may contain many items and cannot reliably identify one file. Open the individual video or post, copy its full URL, and try again.
The post is private, deleted, restricted, or unavailable
A link may work only for logged-in viewers, selected followers, certain ages, or certain countries. It may also have been removed. All Video Grab does not bypass authentication, paywalls, access controls, or digital rights management.
The platform changed its delivery format
Video platforms regularly change page markup, media URLs, rate limits, and anti-abuse systems. A downloader may temporarily stop working until its parser is updated. Wait briefly and retry once; repeated rapid attempts can make rate limiting worse.
The post contains images or text instead of a video
Some posts are image galleries, text-only updates, or mixed-media posts. Use a supported result when images are offered, and do not assume every share link contains a downloadable video.
The media link expired before the transfer began
Many platforms issue short-lived media addresses. If parsing succeeded but downloading did not start, refresh the result and download promptly. A different network or a browser with download blocking disabled may also help.
