How to download videos safely

Downloading a video is safest when the content is public, you have permission to save it, and the tool does not ask for credentials or install extra software. This checklist helps you separate a straightforward download from a privacy or rights risk.
1. Confirm that you may save the content
Use downloads for your own uploads, public-domain or licensed media, or content whose owner has given you permission. A public link does not automatically grant permission to copy, redistribute, or reuse the work. Do not try to bypass logins, paywalls, access controls, or digital rights management.
2. Use the exact public post URL
Copy the URL of the individual post or video rather than a profile, feed, search result, or shortened link. Exact URLs are easier to resolve and reduce the chance of downloading the wrong item. Platform-specific entry points are available for TikTok, Instagram, X, and other supported services.
3. Never provide passwords or login cookies
A downloader for public media should not need your social account password, browser cookies, payment-card details, or a browser extension. If a page asks for them, stop. All Video Grab accepts a public URL and does not require an account.
4. Check the file before opening or sharing it
Confirm that the downloaded item has the expected file type and size. Keep your browser and operating system security features enabled. Before reposting, editing, or publishing the media, check the creator’s licence and the platform’s terms.
5. Keep sensitive links private
